I love your block!! My eyes are drawn to it in the finished quilt!... So distinctive... a great choice of color, from an awesome fabric collection! I have always loved *blue*!! All my life, I've loved all blues! (I feel that the color blue is to my brain what chocolate or coffee or sugar may be to some other people. It is SO restorative and comforting!!) That said, I delight in ALL colors, and use all colors, especially greens, perhaps, in my quilts... Oh, and reds and pinks! Oh!... And black and whites and yellows!... a touch of rusts and oranges... a little purple? (LOL!) Thank you! Pat T.

I have been slowly plugging away at stitching together cogs for my La Passacaglia quilt. If you follow me over on instagram you may have seen a few progress shots over the last few weeks. Today I want to share a couple of photos of some of the cogs I have been working on.
I am enjoying the process of choosing the fabrics for each step and mixing in some fussy cut areas with some that are not fussy cut.
So far I haven't joined any of the cogs together yet. I want to have a few more completed before I start deciding on placement.

Have you seen Lynn Krawczyk's new fabric line, Inked, for Red Rooster? I love the rich, vibrant colors Lynn used. Today I'm sharing a block I made using her fabrics.
The block I made for her quilt is a traditional block called Wild Goose Chase.
Here's how I put it together.
This 12'' block has a light background fabric, two medium prints and two dark prints.
Cutting-
From the light fabric cut:
1 6 1/2'' square
2 3 1/2'' squares
16 2 3/8'' square - cross cut on the diagonal as shown
From the two medium and two dark prints cut 2 4 1/4'' squares each. Cross cut these twice on the diagonal as shown.
Assembly-
Make four flying geese units from each of the medium and dark prints paired with the light background.
Sew these units together into strips of four as shown below.
Make two hourglass blocks pairing a medium value print and a dark print in each. There will be two small triangles of each of these prints left over. Add them to your scrap pile!
Arrange the previously pieced units as shown so that the flying geese strips are pointing to the corner blocks of the same fabric. Sew these together as you would to make a nine patch block.
And there you have the completed Wild Goose Chase block.

I appreciate a big sewing challenge like the La Passacaglia quilt but I also love simple designs that I can knock out in a couple of days. It is wonderful to have the feeling of accomplishment you get when finishing a project quickly.
This week, when I needed a baby quilt for a gift, I tried not to overthink it. I pulled out my pile of reproduction 1930s prints and started cutting 3.5 inch squares. The size of the finished quilt was determined by the size of the piece of sweet bunny print flannel I had for the back.
It was quick to cut, quick to piece, and also quick to quilt. When quilting, I followed the piecing lines to make these fun twisted square shapes.
I took it out for a photo shoot yesterday. And yes, I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring.

I love quilting tops that others have created. It's fun to use different designs and see the varied patterns and colors and the new ways others can put them together.
Earlier this week I quilted this lovely plus top for a customer. Here'a a view of it on the frame where you can see a bit of the freestyle background work. The print fabric areas have straight line quilting.
I took it outside today for a quick photo shoot before shipping it out.
