There's a Fungus Among Us

We've been enjoying more of the beautiful outdoors. The recent rain and sun combination was good for the morels. We collected a full basket yesterday.

P and I also went to "Kindergarten Round-Up". She was thrilled with the little bus ride across the railroad tracks and back.

Petunia's Rose Dress

Sometimes I need a deadline in order to actually finish a project. This dress is one of those times. The Olympics gave me the push I needed to finish the knitting.  The preschool Mother's Day Lunch is the deadline I needed to finish the rest of the dress. P has been telling me that she wanted to wear this to Mother's Day Lunch at preschool on Friday.

Last night I sewed on the buttons and this morning I worked in all of the thread tails.

 

I am pretty sure she likes it.

I like it too.

There was a time back in March that I wasn't even sure I would finish this but now I am thrilled with the result!

The dress is knit from a 1945 vintage knitting pattern book. I used two whole skeins of Grandma's Blessing from Briar Rose Fibers.

Sunday Knits

I am dreaming about a new stranded knitting project.

Mary Jane Mucklestone recommended Sunday Knits to me for stranded knitting and she also used this yarn in her design Luke's Diced Vest.

I ordered yarn colorcards from Sunday Knits and I must say after experiencing the yarn in person it is hard NOT to dream about this yarn. The yarns are incredibly soft and the colors are fabulous! Carol, the owner even sent some sample yarn for knitting swatches.

In talking to Carol on the phone I learned that she used to live a couple of miles frm my house and hunt for morel mushrooms near here too. She was a medical student at University of Michigan WAY back when I worked at U of M Hospital. It really is a small world. When I order from her I will feel like I am supporting a local business even though she is no longer local to here!
