I have finally found a little time at my sewing machine and worked on Lisa's 8two8 swap blocks. Lisa chose black and white colors and quilters choice for the blocks. For some reason I found the black and white to be more challenging than the others so far. For the first block I was trying for an Amish Bars look. It is not quite what I envisioned but I still like it.
I tried something completely different for the next block. I made some bias strips and appliqued them down in a swirl and then just let the black and white fabric speak for itself.
I really like the way the swirly applique turned out. I have been wanting to try this on a project for some time. This is the same technique used for the handles on these baskets.
It feels good to get a little sewing done.
Now, I am off to pick some peas...
